Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed Ltd. is a people centred organisation, which is focussed on the needs of the long term unemployed, unemployment and related issues.
Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed Ltd. is committed to protecting the welfare and rights of all individuals irrespective of background or culture.
Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed Ltd. is committed to making the workplace anti-racist and treats all individuals equally.
Tallaght Centre for the Unemployed Ltd. does this through a structured system that sets quality objectives which measures its activities against its vision, mission and ethos.
To challenge the issues affecting the unemployed
To challenge peoples perception of the unemployed
To campaign and act as a voice for the issues affecting unemployed people
To provide the appropriate welfare information and support services for people in the locality
To provide a range of education and training opportunities for long term unemployed people in the locality
To develop programmes and provide significant training that will assist people in their pursuit of employment or further education
To actively seek and develop opportunities for people locally and other clients of the centre
To provide a safe and fair working environment for each participant
To provide participants with appropriate training
To prepare participants for the workforce through work based training and employment opportunities
The centre has a fully equipped computer training room with Broadband access and the capacity for 10 students. Affordable basic computer training courses are available and many thousands of students have passed through the doors since the centre opened.
The centre assists and supports various organisations in the wider Tallaght area and is greatly involved in the implementation of new initiatives particularly in the field of childcare and computer training for seniors and elders.
The centre provides work experience opportunities to individuals who are training or participating on programmes outside the centre.
Needs
a) The needs of the local community are identified directly through the people who use the centre, those who are unemployed and many who are actively employed. Also, through liaison with social welfare, local organisations & community group’s specific needs are identified.
b) Local people who are long term unemployed are disadvantaged because of their circumstances, Tallaght Centre is a place where they are treated as equals and they feel the facility provides a service that can help them fulfil their needs whether it is to source information or provide access to other services. These individuals can do so in the centre without feeling victimised or targeted.

The benefits occurring as a result of the operations of Tallaght Centre for Unemployed include:
a) People are better informed and prepared about local employment opportunities when job seeking due to the quality of information and service they receive in the centre, also clients have professionally prepared CV's and letters of application for jobs for particular purposes.
b) A greater number of people are using the service to help them actively pursue gainful employment, further education and training opportunities.
c) Individuals who participate in work experience in the centre are gaining skills and knowledge that will equip and prepare them for their future endeavours when job seeking.
